CLAY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

November 20th, 2024 6:00 PM

  1. CALL TO ORDER: The November 20th, 2024, Meeting of the Clay Township Board was called to order at 6:01 p.m. by Chair Andy Kietzman, and those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
  2. ROLL CALL: Present: Chair Andy Kietzman, Supervisors Mike Lichter, Jeff Haukebo via phone, Treasurer Brandi Ward and Clerk Kristina Case.
  3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Lichter, and unanimously carried to approve the agenda as presented.
  4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
    1. Clay Township Regular Meeting Minutes-September 25th, 2024: A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Lichter, and unanimously carried to approve the Clay Township Regular Meeting Minutes for September 25th, 2024.
  5. NEW BUSINESS:
    1. Township Roads Map 2024: Copy for records.
    2. Emmaville Inn, Inc Liquor License 2025: Case requested on behalf of Emmaville to approve liquor license. A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Lichter, and unanimously carried to approve Emmaville liquor license.
    3. Clerk and Treasurer: Discussion about changing Clerk and Treasurer positions to Appointed vs Elected. Suggestion to send a postcard before election to let residents know why the question is being put to a vote. A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Lichter, and unanimously carried to approve adding the following question to the March special election ballot.  “Shall option B, providing for the appointment of the clerk and treasurer by the township board, be adopted for the government of the township?”
  6. OLD BUSINESS:
  7. ROAD REPORT:
    1. Jackfish: Cumber removed tree that was going to fall down onto the roadway.
    2. APPROVAL OF TREASURERS REPORT: CD matures 12/4/2024, roll into new 12 mth for maturity next December. Discussion regarding paying Case and Ward to set up CTAS hourly vs included in salary.  A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Haukebo, and unanimously carried to approve the treasurer’s report, pay Case and Ward hourly wage to set up CTAS, and pay outstanding invoices.
  8. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Kietzman, seconded by Lichter, and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
